Dates and Schedules
Senior Basketball
Dates: February 17, 18, 19, and 20, 2026
Location: Queen's University - Bartlett and Ross Gyms (and Lower Gym 5 if required)
Time: All games will start at 9:00 a.m.. Earlier times will be used if required due to the number of teams on a certain day.
Junior Basketball
Dates: May 4, 5, and 7, 2026
Location: Queen's University
- May 4: Gym 2, Gym 4
- Each gym will have two courts
- May 5: Gym 2, Gym 4, Gym 5
- Each gym will have two courts
- May 7: Gym 3, Gym 4, Gym 5
- Each gym will have two courts

Located in the ARC (upper level). Teams and spectators should use the elevator or ask Front Desk staff for stair access. - Gym 3 (Bartlett Gym):
Located in Mitchell Hall, a separate building behind the ARC. - Gym 4 (Ross Gym):

Rules
The purpose of LESAA is to promote an interest in and love for the game of basketball while developing player skills in a healthy, competitive or recreational environment, depending on the athletes’ skill level.
All LESAA Division Tournaments will follow the rules of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), with the following exceptions and clarifications:
Participants
Team Composition
- Teams may carry an unlimited number of players on their roster.
- Teams must have a minimum of 10 players on their roster.
A Teams
- “A” teams must roster a minimum of 10 players for division tournaments.
- If an “A” team arrives at a tournament with fewer than 10 players, all games will be forfeited.
- If an “A” team is short players prior to the tournament, players may be added from the team’s “B” roster.
- If a player is injured or leaves unexpectedly during the tournament, the team is not required to replace that player.
- For Intermediate Basketball, if an “A” team advances to the final, a minimum of 10 players must be listed on the roster.
Equipment
- All teams must have team uniforms with visible numbers. Home team is responsible for having a set of pinnies if the away team has the same colour uniform.
- Junior LESAA tournaments will use a size 5 basketball.
- Intermediate LESAA tournaments will use a size 6 basketball.
Game Procedures
Warm-Up
- Teams will be granted up to 5 minutes of warm-up time on the court before each game.
Time-Outs
- Each team is allotted three (3) time-outs per game.
- A maximum of two (2) time-outs may be used per half.
- If a time-out is called after the opponent scores during the final two minutes, the ball may advance to the front court.
- Coaches may request a time-out directly during live play, provided their team is in possession of the ball.
Game Length
- Games consist of two 20-minute halves with running time.
- The final minute of the game will be stop time, unless the score differential exceeds 10 points.
Fouls
- A player is disqualified upon committing their fifth personal foul.
- Free throws are awarded after a team commits its fifth team foul in a half.
- In accordance with FIBA rules, penalty situations result in two free throws.
Jewelry
· No jewelry is allowed to be worn during play. Watches, earrings, necklaces, bracelets etc are prohibited. This will be enforced at all LESAA tournament dates.
Fair Play Rule
- Every player must participate in each half of every game.

Information and background knowledge
Spectator Guidelines
All spectators at LESAA sanctioned events are expected to adhere to the following expectations:
- Students are number one.
- Participation and fun, not winning, are everything.
- Fans only cheer, coaches only coach, referees only referee.
- No yelling in anger.
- Respect the volunteer referees (often youth).
- No swearing.
- Set a proper example for good sportsmanship.

Coaches are encouraged to submit photos or videos of LESAA events online. By submitting a photo or video, you are confirming LDSB Freedom of Information (FOI) and Consents are in place.
