I Need Your Help Coaches

Hey Coaches

I just received this message from the Associate Director, Facilities Operations and Events at Queens.  He is not happy when he gets complaints from other occupants of the facility we are using for our basketball tournaments.  We have been using Queens for our volleyball and basketball tournaments for the past few years.  If we are not able to use this facility then LESAA volleyball and basketball will have a much more difficult time hosting these events.

Please, please supervise your athletes before, during and after all of your basketball games.  Please do not say we play in an hour and meet me here...... and then let your players wander off anywhere on there own.  Treat Queens as you would your own school, or any other excursion - supervise all of your kids at all times and everyone stays together in a group.

I have included a summary of the complaint that was forwarded to me.

I wanted to let you know that there have been some complaints about the guests here for the tournament. I've seen a few things myself that aren't great - a recent example: a kid bouncing a ball up to the third floor from the Pakrul Lounge (2nd floor) while two others laid out on the rolling ottomans and rolled themselves into each other (like bumper cars). These things happened with two coaches/parents looking on, so supervision isn't always sufficient to ensure respectful use of the space it seems. It was particularly unfortunate that this happened while I was talking to the new Off-Campus Living Advisor who happened to be telling me about the issues she's faced this week because of the noise from the Pakrul lounge.

By far the biggest complaint is noise. And part of that is because the kids sometimes gather where they shouldn't, like right outside the prayer room or on the third floor near the Exams Centre. They seem to think the whole building is at their disposal, so maybe the messaging could be revised in a way that would preemptively address some of the concerns of our building occupants.

Thanks for your attention with this important message....... Erik, Evan, and Darrell
