Published on Feb 16, 2022 20:20

Hello Coaches,

We had 61 basketball teams sign up for either the skills competition or the competitive team competition.

LESAA Information
* there will be no charge for any of the basketball competitions (skills or team) for 2022
* we have gathered the entries and arranged them into divisions and prepared schedules
* league play may be the future look for LESAA basketball - getting suitable venues continues to be an issue

General Covid Information
* masks must be worn at all times, except when a person is actually playing on the court;
* no spectators are permitted
* all players/coaches/refs/scorekeepers must be fully vaccinated

Skills Competition Teams and Schedule (clickable Link)
* click on the link above
* the first page shows the teams entered, coaches, and contact information, divisions - this is  the Roster tab
* move to the very bottom of the page and you will see the words Roster (which is open) and Schedule
* click on Schedule
* on either page - in light blue at the top of the page is "Please click to see a full description of the Basketball Team Challenge" - click on this to print your score sheets

Competitive Team Competition (clickable link)
* hey coaches, a lot of the success of this competition falls on you
* we have prepared the divisions and schedules, we tried to do it geographical as much as possible, this means sometimes larger schools will be playing smaller schools - be kind, play your bench accordingly, play multiple short games of 5 minutes each and then clear the score - do whatever it takes to make it enjoyable for both teams
* it is then up to the coaches of the 2 teams to connect, set up a date, day, venue, time, organize refs, and scorekeepers
* please keep in mind some schools find it more difficult to travel, some gyms are much better for basketball than others, dismissal time, etc.
* there are no playoffs or medals - so we encourage lots of court time for all players, spend time teaching and reinforcing skill development
* should 2 schools not be able to work out an agreeable time, not to worry as the results do not determine standings
* should your school have a BYE week and you want to play, we encourage you to look at the other divisions and schedule other games with other BYE teams.
* each school situation is unique - if you would like more games than we scheduled, feel free to use the contact information and schedule more games - we went with one game per week
LEAGUE INSTRUCTIONS:
* click on the link above
* the first page shows the divisions and the name of each division
* at the bottom of the page is a link for coaches contact information
* at the bottom of the page you'll see multiple tabs - locate your division and click on that tab for the schedule.

Well coaches - thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to coach the kids.  They do appreciate it (even when they don't say it).

As usual, if there are any errors or omissions please let me know.

Take care of yourselves... who knows.....we may be able to run fully traditional track and field meets in May and June - wouldn't that be nice!!

Darrell
